The Magpies enter the competition next month after being exempt from round two after reaching last season's final, where they were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United at Wembley in February.

Other side who, like United, are involved in European competition this season will also enter the competition at the round three stage meaning that alongside last term's finalists, each of Manchester City, Arsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion, Aston Villa and West Ham will also find out their first Carabao Cup opponents of 2023/24.

The draw is set to be made after the conclusion of Doncaster Rovers' second round clash with Everton and will be made by Darren Moore and Izzy Christiansen.

All third round ties are set to take place during the week beginning Monday, 25th September.
