Emerson played his youth football for Queen of the South and Annan Athletic before joining Newcastle United's Academy in 2019.

The Scotland Under-19 international made his debut for Newcastle at under-21 level at the tender age of 16 in a Premier League Cup clash against Watford, one month before making his under-18s bow.

The young Cumbrian scored the winning goal in Newcastle’s 2-1 win against PSG in the UEFA Youth League last term, the club’s first ever victory in the competition’s history.

The rapid teenager, who signed a two-year scholarship with Newcastle in the summer of 2022, scored eight goals at under-18 level in 2022-23.
