The young Magpies will confirm their passage into the play-offs with a game to spare should they claim a positive result against their Royals counterparts at St. James' Park and target a fourth successive league victory after respective successes against Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest.
Emerson, who signed his first professional contract with United last summer, is relishing the prospect of featuring at the stadium but remains fully focussed on the task in hand.
The Carlisle-born winger, a representative of Scotland at under-19 level, told newcastleunited.com: "You always look forward to playing at St. James', with a couple of opportunities to play there, so it's an extra buzz and motivation to it but we need to treat it like a normal game, not letting the emotion get the better of it, and use it to our advantage.
"The goal is play there every week so we've got to take the opportunity while we can. We want to play as many games as possible, especially with people looking for loans in the summer and to impress the manager if he would be there.
"It's a big game for us so the incentive for us is to qualify for the play-offs and go as far as we can."
Newcastle's second-string came from behind to claim a 3-2 away win against their Forest counterparts on Monday, with Emerson providing a goal and assist in an important comeback victory for United's youngsters.
The 19-year-old winger, capable of playing on both flanks, reflected positively on his attacking contributions and is hopeful of producing a consistent run of performances for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
Emerson, who joined United's Academy in 2019, added: "I was happy to get a goal and assist as it's something I've been wanting to do more. I need to bring that side out on a more regular basis. The goals and assists are what gets the headlines but also how I performed too. Hopefully, I continue doing that.
"We're on a good run as a team and the morale is strong, especially with a bit of chopping and changing of the squad. We've managed to keep it very high and the Forest result was very important.
"We went one-nil down early on but we got together as a team and upped the intensity and caught them off guard, sticking together and managing to come from behind to win.
"It was a good sign. We can play multiple ways; grinding out a victory or play nice football but you need to be able to do both in the same game."
Admission for Newcastle United Under-21s' Premier League 2 visit of Reading at St. James' Park on Monday, 7th April (kick-off 7pm BST) is free for season ticket holders, otherwise it's £3 for adults and £1 concessions.
Please note the league clash will not be streamed live on the Official Newcastle United App, with the first-team's away clash against Leicester City on Monday night to be shown live on Sky Sports.
