A Newcastle United-themed Shaun the Sheep sculpture has been installed outside St. James' Park as part of a new art trail in aid of St Oswald's Hospice

The Shaun the Sheep on the Tyne project has seen the local charity collaborate with creative producers Wild in Art, Shaun the Sheep creator Aardman and Newcastle City Council to produce the exhibition, which features 45 sculptures situated around the city centre and surrounding areas.

One of those sculptures - named Wor Shaun - now stands on Strawberry Place. It was designed by Wor Flags and has been sponsored by the Magpies.

Following the success of Great North Snowdogs in 2016 and Elmer's Great North Parade in 2019, St Oswald’s Hospice's third art trail celebrates the support shown by their community throughout the pandemic and will be in situ until Wednesday, 27th September. It also aims to increase public awareness about hospice care and its importance and impact on the community.

Each Shaun the Sheep sculpture has been uniquely designed by artists from the region and beyond, while a series of smaller 'Little Shaun' sculptures - painted by schools and youth groups - are also on display at indoor venues across Newcastle.

A trail map and App are available to help navigate the accessible trail. When the trail ends, the sculptures will be auctioned to raise funds for St Oswald's Hospice.
