The Magpies have been in excellent form in cup competitions this term - they're through to the final of the Techflow Marine Northumberland Senior Cup, face Porto in the semi-finals of the Premier League International Cup and travel to Sheffield United later this week in the quarter-finals of the Premier League Cup - but have struggled in the league.
They're currently 11th, with only West Brom below them, while Boro - who were the division's early pacesetters - are fifth but could climb to third with victory at Whitley Park. Middlesbrough won 1-0 when the two sides met in August.
Supporters could get another chance to see Victor Fernandez, who made his first-team debut in last month's friendly against Royal Antwerp, while Liberia-born midfielder Mo Sangare has caught the eye in recent weeks.
Admission on Tuesday night is free for season ticket holders and members, otherwise it's £3 for adults and £1 concessions.
