Kieran Trippier will start for Newcastle United in Wednesday night's crucial Premier League clash with Manchester United (kick-off 8pm BST).

The Magpies head to Old Trafford looking for the win which would take them another step closer to securing European football next term with just a few days of 2023/24 remaining, and Trippier - having returned from injury earlier this month - will skipper the side on what will be his first start since the beginning of March.

Fellow defender Fabian Schär, meanwhile, is among the substitutes after missing United's last two games.

Martin Dúbravka is in goal against the team he spent half of last term on loan with, with Trippier, Emil Krafth, Dan Burn and Lewis Hall forming a back four.

Elliot Anderson is preferred to Joelinton in the middle of the park, with Bruno Guimarães and Sean Longstaff alongside him.

And Alexander Isak will lead the line against the Red Devils, with support from Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon on the flanks.

Fabian Schär and Joelinton are on the bench, with Miguel Almirón and Harvey Barnes two more offensive options for head coach Eddie Howe, while Nick Pope, Paul Dummett, Alex Murphy, Matt Ritchie and Joe White are also included.
