Freddie Woodman will make his Newcastle United debut in Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie with Luton Town.

The 20-year-old will be between the sticks for the Magpies for the first time in a competitive fixture for the clash with the Hatters at St. James’ Park, as Rafa Benítez names a strong team for United’s first outing in the competition this season.

Javier Manquillo, Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett make up the defence in front of Woodman, with Matt Ritchie, Jonjo Shelvey, Mikel Merino and Jacob Murphy forming an attack-minded midfield quartet.

And Ayoze Pérez – scorer of the winner in Monday’s Premier League victory at Stoke City – will provide support for Dwight Gayle in attack.

Karl Darlow is on the bench, along with Massadio Haidara, and Isaac Hayden, Mohamed Diamé and Henri Saivet provide midfield reinforcements.

And Rolando Aarons and Joselu are also named on the bench by Benítez, an FA Cup winner during his time in charge of Liverpool.

Newcastle United (4-4-1-1): Freddie Woodman; Javier Manquillo, Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark, Paul Dummett; Matt Ritchie, Jonjo Shelvey, Mikel Merino, Jacob Murphy; Ayoze Pérez; Dwight Gayle.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Massadio Haidara, Isaac Hayden, Mohamed Diamé, Henri Saivet, Rolando Aarons, Joselu.
