Lee Mason will take charge of Newcastle United’s Premier League game away to Arsenal next Sunday.

It’ll be the third time this season that the 48-year-old has refereed a United game, having previously presided over the Magpies’ 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa in November and December’s 2-1 loss to Everton at St. James’ Park.

So far, Mason has brandished just one red card this season, dismissing Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp in the Blades’ Premier League clash against Southampton in September. He has shown 57 yellow cards in all competitions, averaging out at exactly three per game.

He will be assisted by Ian Hussin and Harry Lennard at the Emirates Stadium. Andrew Madley will be the fourth official, while Kevin Friend will be the video assistant referee.

The Magpies will be hoping for a change of fortune when they travel to North London, having lost at the Emirates on each of their last seven visits.
