Peter Bankes will be the referee for Newcastle United's Emirates FA Cup fourth round replay at Oxford United on Tuesday night (kick-off 8.05pm GMT).

This will be the 37-year-old's second game involving the Magpies this term after overseeing United's 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux in January, in which the Englishman booked Miguel Almirón, Matty Longstaff and Christian Atsu.

Bankes is in his first season as a Premier League referee after spending time officiating in the EFL in recent years.

The last time Bankes took charge of a game involving Newcastle came in the 2016/17 campaign, when Newcastle lifted the Championship trophy on the final day of the season against Barnsley. He was the man in the middle of the 2-0 win against Aston Villa at St. James' Park and the 4-3 home victory over Norwich City earlier that term.

So far this season, Bankes has officiated 18 games across the Premier League, Championship, Carabao Cup and FA Cup, showing 77 yellow cards and two reds.

On Tuesday at the Kassam Stadium, Bankes will be assisted by Simon Beck and Mark Russell with Andy Woolmer as the fourth official. There will be no video assistant referee for the cup tie.
