Eddie Howe’s side return to European action this week when they face the Bundesliga outfit, currently unbeaten in the German top-flight, and the Portuguese official will be the man in the middle for the highly-anticipated clash on Tyneside.
The 44-year-old, a FIFA listed referee since 2010, has officiated games in the Primeira Liga and Greek League so far this term as well as the Champions League and Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Last year, the Gaia-born official oversaw six Champions League fixtures during the 2022/23 campaign, including the semi-final first leg between holders Manchester City and Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
