Anthony Taylor will referee Newcastle United's Premier League game against Liverpool

The 44-year-old is one of the top flight's most prominent and experienced officials, having been in the professional game for almost 20 years - with over 13 years spent as a top flight referee.

Taylor, who hails from Wythenshawe, has also been a FIFA-listed international official since 2013, and has a host of prestigious cup outings on his CV including FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Championship play-off, UEFA Nations League and FIFA Club World Cup finals. He has also refereed at major tournaments - Taylor was among the officials for EURO 2020, as well as last year's World Cup in Qatar.

The visit of the Reds this weekend will be his first appointment involving Newcastle so far this season, though he did oversee two Magpies games last term - most recently the 3-1 win over Everton at St. James' Park just over a year ago.
