Eddie Howe has named an unchanged starting XI ahead of Newcastle United's Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 4.30pm GMT).

The Magpies face Arne Slot's Reds at Wembley Stadium, aiming to end a 56-year wait for a piece of major silverware since lifting the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969, and Howe has elected for the same side which claimed a 1-0 win against West Ham United on Monday.

Nick Pope, suspended for the 2023 Carabao Cup final after his straight red card against today's opponents, is named in-between the sticks behind a four-man defence, with Fabian Schär and Dan Burn - who received a first England call-up on Friday - situated in central defence while Kieran Trippier and Tino Livramento occupy the respective defensive flanks.

Bruno Guimarães, who captains the Magpies this afternoon, is situated in the middle of the park alongside Sandro Tonali and Joelinton while Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes will aim to provide attacking support for Alexander Isak, who is set for his 100th appearance since joining United from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022.

Howe has a number of options to deploy from the bench if required, including midfield trio Sean Longstaff, Lewis Miley and Joe Willock as well as attacking pair Callum Wilson and William Osula.

Defensive duo Emil Krafth and Matt Targett also feature on the bench while Sean Neave, who signed his first professional contract with the Magpies last summer, is also named as a substitute as the 17-year-old forward targets a senior debut for his boyhood club.

Martin Dúbravka is the substitute goalkeeper.

Substitutes: Martin Dúbravka, Emil Krafth, Matt Targett, Sean Longstaff, Lewis Miley, Joe Willock, Callum Wilson, William Osula, Sean Neave.
