The Serbian frontman, who is on loan at Craven Cottage until the end of the season, started at Ashton Gate in the Championship clash, with fifth-placed Fulham looking to close the gap between themselves and the second automatic promotion spot.
And it started well for the 23-year-old, who put the Cottagers ahead with just under quarter of an hour gone, stabbing home the opener at the far post following Cyrus Christie’s cross.
But Bobby Reid’s leveller earned the hosts a point, though Slavisa Jokanovic’s men stay above the Robins, who are just one point behind Fulham in sixth.
Mitrovic has played 11 games in all this term, including four since joining the London club on loan last month. His strike against Bristol City was his third of the campaign, having netted for the Magpies in the Premier League win over West Ham and the Carabao Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest.
