Jones has been appointed to oversee what will be the Magpies' penultimate fixture of the 2023/24 campaign at Old Trafford, where both sides are scrambling to make sure of their places in European competition come the end of the term on Sunday.
The 37-year-old, a top flight official for the last five years after making his debut in 2019, has already taken charge of two games between the sides this season - United's 3-0 win at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup in November, and Eddie Howe's side's 1-0 win over Erik ten Hag's men in the league in December.
Jones has refereed the Magpies on two other occasions this season too, having been in the middle of their 1-0 defeat at Manchester City in August and their thrilling 4-3 victory over West Ham United at St. James' Park in March - a game in which he sent off Anthony Gordon.
This term, he has also stepped up to oversee games in continental competition, appearing the Europa Conference League and EURO 2024 qualifiers, as well as international friendlies.
