Winger Ryan Fraser was in international action on Wednesday night as Scotland were held to a 2-2 draw against the Netherlands in Portugal.

Fraser missed the remainder of the Magpies' Premier League campaign after sustaining a groin injury on international duty in March but the 27-year-old replaced Celtic's James Forrest in the 62nd minute of their first Euro 2020 warm-up game.

Steve Clarke's side took the lead inside ten minutes through Jack Hendry's 10th-minute strike, his first international goal, before Memphis Depay's composed finish brought the 2019 Nations League finalists back on level terms.

Kevin Nisbet regained Scotland's lead shortly after the hour mark, scoring a maiden goal for his country with his first touch after coming off the bench alongside Fraser.

However, Depay's 89th-minute free-kick denied the Tartan Army an eye-catching victory at the Estádio Algarve against a Dutch side containing former Magpies Tim Krul and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Martin Dúbravka's Slovakia were held to a 1-1 draw against Bulgaria on Tuesday but the 32-year-old shot-stopper was an unused substitute for the friendly clash at the Josko Arena in Austria.

Elsewhere, young defender Oisín McEntee got a full game as Republic of Ireland Under-21s claimed a 2-1 win against their Australia counterparts in Marbella.

The 20-year-old centre-back, who was handed his debut at Under-21 level on Saturday, started and finished the friendly encounter as Ross Tierney's 90th minute strike sealed a late victory for Jim Crawford's side.

United pair Fabian Schär and Miguel Almirón could feature for their respective countries on Thursday, with Switzerland hosting Liechtenstein (kick-off 5pm BST) while Paraguay begin their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign against Uruguay at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo (kick-off 11pm BST).
