Ian Holloway speaks ahead of QPR's visit to St. James' Park

The Magpies were 6-0 winners at Loftus Road earlier this season and know that three points against the R's on Wednesday night will take them back to the top of the Sky Bet Championship table.

Rangers, meanwhile, are in 19th place and lost at home to Burton Albion in their last outing.

But Holloway told his club’s official website: "I don’t imagine too many people feel we are capable of a positive result tonight, but I certainly do.

"Look at what we did at Reading, look at how we got on against Fulham. People didn't fancy us in those games either, did they?

"But that’s QPR – that's how we have always been. We might not have diamonds, but we don't half sparkle.

"I really do think this club is special, and nothing would fill me with greater pride than to respond to a disappointing defeat with a positive result tonight."

Holloway added: "I would expect Newcastle to have more possession than us but we have been handling that very well lately."

QPR could hand debuts to new signings Sean Goss and Luke Freeman, while former Newcastle players James Perch and Kazenga LuaLua may line up against their old club.
