Isaac Hayden is the player in focus inside Newcastle United’s official matchday programme, UNITED, for Saturday’s visit of Crystal Palace.

The 24-year-old has started the Magpies’ last 17 games in all competitions, making a central midfield spot his own after a turbulent 2018 which saw the former Arsenal man line up just five times in black and white.

In an in-depth, eight-page interview inside this weekend’s issue, Hayden discusses his return to prominence in Newcastle’s first XI, as well as the personal circumstances that led to him seeking a move away from the club last summer.

He also gives an insight into his mindset during what he describes as the most difficult period of his life, and speaks about the change in supporters’ perceptions of him since the turn of the year.

As well as that extensive feature with Hayden – who also adorns the cover – there is a rare and open interview with former goalkeeper Steve Hardwick, who reflects on his time on Tyneside.

Captain Jamaal Lascelles answers some peculiar questions in popular feature Toon Tombola and shares his thoughts in his latest captain’s column, while manager Rafa Benítez also pens his regular notes.

Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves gives us his take on the state of play at St. James’ Park, while under-23s skipper Owen Bailey is profiled in High Hopes.

There is also plenty of historical content to enjoy in Saturday’s edition of UNITED, which is priced at £3 and available around the ground or here.
