'Wor Hyem 1892' urge fans to raise the roof again on Monday night

Rafa Benítez’s side go into Monday night’s game looking for another vital three points in the pursuit of promotion, with just three Sky Bet Championship matches remaining this season - including two on Tyneside.

Despite a last-minute equaliser denying the Magpies a deserved three points in their last home outing, the ‘Wor Hyem 1892’ group has praised fans and players for their efforts, citing it as one of the best atmospheres at the ground during the current campaign.

“We ended up with one of the best atmospheres I have seen all season against Leeds,” said Ed Renwick, a co-founder of Wor Hyem 1892. “From start to finish it was loud, positive and great fun.

“It wasn’t just one section of the stadium, it was happening everywhere. The mood was upbeat, all were in good voice and that was maintained throughout the game.

“There is no question in my mind that the performance of the players and their passion was directly linked to that support.

“The players were up for it just as much as the fans and the two worked in synergy the whole game.”

Wor Hyem 1892 continues to support the efforts of fellow supporter group Gallowgate Flags, adding vocal backing to its incredible flag and banner displays.

The group is now encouraging fans to replicate those scenes as the Magpies welcome Preston - a side they have beaten twice already this season - in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

“We have two home games left and this is where we really need to emulate that mood around the ground to give our team the best chance of closing out the season on a high.

“We have seen what an impact we can have on the players when we support in the way we did against Leeds. That is needed now more than ever, particularly the Preston game next Monday.

“Let’s get behind the team, encourage them, chant as loud as we can and give our support.”
