The 20-year-old defender, a near ever-present for United's second-string last season, will link up with Pools for the duration of their 2020/21 campaign, which kicks off on Saturday at home to Aldershot Town.
Born in North Shields, Cass joined United's Academy at the age of 12 and, after progressing through the Magpies' youth ranks, signed his first professional contract with his boyhood club in the summer of 2018.
Capable of playing anywhere across the back line, Cass was an unused substitute in United's Emirates FA Cup third round draw at Rochdale in January as well as Newcastle's 4-0 away win at Fulham on the final day of the 2018/19 season.
