Newcastle United Women manager Becky Langley was pleased with the way her side performed in Sunday's draw against rivals Liverpool Feds, despite the result meaning that the title race is now out of the Lady Magpies' hands

"I have nothing but praise for the girls," she said. "They gave every inch of passion and determination to that match. It's disappointing to not get the win but we have to look forward now."

Sunday's stalemate followed Friday's loss to Wallsend BC Women in the Bluefin Sports Insurance Women's Cup final.

Langley felt that her side bounced back from Friday's disappointment and put in a commanding performance against Liverpool Feds, with the final score flattering the visitors.

She said: "Off the back of Friday, we were looking for a reaction, and wanted to use the upset and anger to fuel the fire for Sunday.

"(Liverpool Feds) only had one shot on target, and we had many chances. With everything, all we focus on is our performance and values.

"Regardless of the outcome, I could not have asked for any more from the players."

Moving forward, the Newcastle Women manager outlined the message she will be delivering to her players.

"Nothing is over yet," she declared. "We can't change the past, but we can make sure we never compromise our values. We've just got to keep going.

"There is a lot to play for - we are still in the mindset that we are going to win this league."

Langley added her pride in what her side has achieved so far this season.

She said: "In terms of our season, it has already been outstanding, and we have guaranteed at least second place.

"(Liverpool Feds) have five games to play, but we can't use too much energy focusing on them; we have to focus on the two remaining games to play and then the game at St. James' Park."

The Lady Magpies will play their last match of the season against Barnsley at St. James' on Sunday, 1st May and Langley expressed her gratitude for having such an opportunity.

"Playing at St. James' Park is an honour," she said. "It is a progressive move for women's football and signifies Newcastle Women becoming a part of Newcastle United Football Club.

"It is an inspirational move for women's football in the North East."
