Having been the Premier League’s largest arena from the off, Old Trafford’s capacity will be eclipsed this time out, with Tottenham Hotspur set to call Wembley home for the next 12 months. Still, it remains the largest permanent club ground in the British Isles by a considerable margin.

The Toon Army will need no reminding that it is a venue where Newcastle have struggled in recent years. A 1-0 win in December 2013 was the Magpies’ first at Old Trafford since 1972 and, since the Premier League began, they have only amassed 11 points against the Red Devils on their own turf.

Though they failed to stay up in the end, Newcastle were unbeaten against Man Utd during their last season in the top flight. The two sides contested a thrilling 3-3 draw at St. James’ Park, having played out a stalemate at Old Trafford a fortnight into the campaign. They almost edged the latter clash, with Aleksandar Mitrovic and Florian Thauvin both going close to a winner.
