The Magpies’ 3-0 win over Colchester United at Whitley Park on Monday made sure of top spot in Group D, as United finished three points above second-placed Swansea City.
They will now go through to the knockout stage along with Derby County, Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers, Southampton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, AFC Bournemouth, Swansea City and Aston Villa.
The other clubs to have reached the last 16 are Leicester City, Everton, Liverpool, Bristol City, Exeter City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Sheffield United/Ipswich Town.
The draw – which will be unseeded – will take place on Thursday morning, and will be covered live on Twitter at @PLYouth.
