Newcastle United Under-23s welcome Swansea City Under-23s to the Little Benton Academy on Wednesday for a Premier League Cup clash (1pm kick-off).

The game was originally scheduled to be played at Whitley Park, but adverse weather conditions have led to the game being moved to United's Academy, though kick-off will still be at 1pm.

Peter Beardsley’s side – who won on their last home outing, beating Reading 4-1 in Premier League 2 Division Two – are looking to get off the mark in Group D, having lost 4-3 to Burnley in their opening fixture back in September.

It will be the Swans’ first tie in the Premier League Cup, and a win for either team would take them into second place behind the Clarets, who have two wins from two.

The two teams met twice in the competition last season, with the first game ending in a goalless draw before the Welsh side emerged 2-1 winners back in the return fixture back in January.

But the Magpies came out on top in last term’s league clash at home, winning 3-2 thanks to goals from Sean Longstaff, Dan Barlaser and Callum Roberts.

Barlaser and Roberts could be among those to line up on Wednesday, while Beardsley may be able to call on the services of a number of first team players once again, with Freddie Woodman and Jamie Sterry among those to have featured in recent weeks.

Admission for the game at the Academy is free.
