Teenage midfielder Jay Turner-Cooke has joined Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone on loan for the duration of the 2023/24 campaign

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder, who scored his first senior goal for the Magpies during a 3-2 pre-season friendly victory against Gateshead last month, will link up with Steven MacLean's side until the end of the season.

Joining United's Academy in January 2021 from Sunderland, Turner-Cooke also featured for the Magpies' first-team during July's Premier League Summer Series in the USA, making substitute appearances against Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion.

The South Shields-born youngster, who made his Newcastle first-team debut during a 5-0 win against Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal in December 2022, will be aiming for a further taste of senior action after featuring for League Two outfit Tranmere Rovers during the second-half of the 2022/23 campaign.
