Newcastle United take on Liverpool at 5:30pm on Saturday (GMT) following almost a week of arctic conditions across the UK.
As a result of plunging temperatures, heavy snow and high winds, emergency services, local authorities and the military have been working hard to restore several cross-country routes, with road, rail and air services all affected.

Rail disruption on Merseyside
Strike action is being taken by guard members of the RMT union and will result in disruptions across Merseyside on Saturday.
Allowing additional time for your journey and using alternative public transport in Liverpool city centre is strongly recommended.
TransPennine Express Services
In addition to strike action in Liverpool, Network Rail engineers will be undertaking additional work in the Manchester area to assist with the completion of the electrification work currently taking place between Manchester and Preston via Bolton (part of the wider Great Rail North Project).
This work will affect services on the Liverpool Lime Street to Newcastle (via Manchester Victoria) route.
On Saturday, these services will start from and terminate at LEEDS (no longer calling at Huddersfield, Manchester Victoria or Liverpool Lime Street).
This will mean there will be less services operating between Liverpool /Manchester and Huddersfield / Leeds stations. Other services on this route will therefore be busier than normal. On Sunday, these services will be diverted to operate to/from Manchester Piccadilly instead (no longer calling at Manchester Victoria or Liverpool Lime Street) therefore, there will be less services available between Liverpool and Manchester stations.
Sandhills Station closed
Local Merseyrail train services from the city centre will not be calling at Sandhills Station - the station closest to Anfield - on matchday.
‘Football Special’ bus service
There will be a dedicated non-stop ‘Football Special’ bus service - the 917 - operated by Stagecoach.
The bus service will run every few minutes from St. John’s Lane (next to Lime Street Railway Station) direct to Anfield.
The return 917 journey will depart from Walton Breck Road (behind The Kop) and will run non-stop to the city centre.
Other bus services
There is also a Taxi Bus that departs from the same stop as the 917.
Other bus services are available from the main Queen Square Bus Station, which is also in front of Lime Street Station.
Arriva Buses on Merseyside have agreed to accept Merseyrail tickets for bus journeys covering Merseyrail’s Northern and Wirral lines.
