The club invited fans - many of them based in the USA but others who had travelled from far and wide - to see Eddie Howe's players prepare for the match at their Pace Academy base in Atlanta.

And the delighted supporters were then given the chance to meet their heroes and get photographs and autographs after the session ended.

Newcastle take on Chelsea at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Wednesday, then round their USA trip off with a match against Brighton at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on Friday, 28th July. Then, when they return to the UK, the Magpies will round off their friendly fixtures with home games against Fiorentina and Villarreal on consecutive days on the first weekend of August in the Sela Cup, presented by VisitMalta - tickets are on sale here.

Club photographer Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery from Atlanta.
