The Hatters are the visitors to St. James' Park on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm GMT), with Eddie Howe's side seeking to follow up their 2-0 FA Cup fourth round victory at Fulham and their impressive 3-1 Premier League win over Aston Villa with another similarly positive result against Rob Edwards's men.

Luton come into the contest in form, though, having lost just one of their last nine games, winning five of them - including the 1-0 victory over United at Kenilworth Road just before Christmas and their 4-0 thrashing of Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night.

Howe and his players trained on Thursday ahead of the game, buoyed by Tuesday's win at Villa Park, where Fabian Schär's brace set Newcastle on course for the victory that moved them to within three points of a place in the top six.
