The 24-year-old striker has been in blistering form for the Magpies during the 2023/24 campaign, with the Swedish frontman scoring 20 goals in 27 English top-flight outings as well as netting ten times in as many matches since recovering from a groin injury in February.
Isak's strike in a 4-1 win against Burnley last weekend also saw him become the first Newcastle player since Alan Shearer in 2002/03 to reach 20 goals in a Premier League season, with a minutes-per-goal rate of, currently, 101.3.
Nominated for the award last term after an impressive maiden campaign at St. James' Park since joining from Real Sociedad, Isak features on an eight-man shortlist which includes Manchester City pair Erling Haaland and Phil Foden, Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, Cole Palmer of Chelsea, Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo and Destiny Udogie of Tottenham Hotspur.
