Amy Andrews has been settling into life at Newcastle United Women since arriving in the summer from North East neighbours Durham Women - but has sent a Christmas message out to the rest of the league.

Andrews has four goals to her name in black and white, including a core memory of scoring in front of the Gallowgate End at St. James' Park, but she's insistent that there's more to come.

Having started all but one game this term, Andrews has quickly become a trusted lieutenant in Becky Langley's side with United's number 17 admitting she's proud of the work which has gone in on and off the pitch this campaign.

The team are five points behind leaders Birmingham City Women with a game in hand as the Women's Championship campaign pauses for the festive period - albeit they're currently in seventh place in a tight table.

"I feel like I've done my job and done what I've been asked to do for the team," Andrews said as she looked back on the first half of the season.

"I think that I've been a threat in every game, but of course I'm a bit disappointed that I've not got more goals - but it's something I'm working on.

"I'll always do what I can to help the team because even though I haven't scored the goals, I've been making the runs which have ended up helping the team.

"I'll happily assist my team-mates and do whatever I can as long as I'm doing my role and doing what the coaches are asking of me and then hopefully the goals will start to flow."

Several highlights have been achieved for Andrews and her colleagues so far this season in both league and cup competitions.

However, the former college athlete was left still smiling from ear-to-ear when describing her favourite moment since pulling on the famous black and white shirt.

"It's still the AC Milan game in pre-season," Andrews revealed.

"It was just about how happy we all were after the match and the fact that we got to experience all of those emotions and memories with the fans was great.

"Walking out of St. James' Park after the game was surreal as we were trying to get to our cars and there were crowds of fans applauding us and that gave me goosebumps. I've never been able to get over it."

While now is a time for players and supporters alike to reflect and live in the moment, United are back in action on January 12th, with Andrews and the rest of the squad eager to keep improving.

The Birmingham-born striker is keen to get on the scoresheet more often, although she's taking a lot of confidence into 2025 after netting against Liverpool Women and Manchester United Women in recent Women's League Cup matches.

"It's actually quite funny because I've scored more goals against WSL (Women's Super League) sides this season than I have Championship opposition, but it’s just one of those things," she said.

"For me, I obviously want to score more goals and I just want to get on the scoresheet and assist more often."
