Fabian Schär, Jonjo Shelvey and Miguel Almirón all return to Newcastle United’s starting XI as Eddie Howe’s side look to continue their red-hot home form against Premier League title challengers Liverpool.

The Magpies made it six wins in six on home soil against Crystal Palace ten days ago before coasting to a 3-0 victory at Norwich last Saturday.

And, of the 11 who started at Carrow Road, eight keep their place for this lunchtime’s visit of the Reds, with Schär, Shelvey and Almirón replacing skipper Jamaal Lascelles, Sean Longstaff and Jacob Murphy respectively.

Schär – who signed a new two-year deal at St. James’ Park this week – joins Dan Burn, Emil Krafth and Matt Targett at the back, with Martin Dúbravka continuing in goal.

Shelvey, meanwhile, joins Bruno Guimarães and Joe Willock in the middle, with Joelinton also expected to play centrally. Almirón and Allan Saint-Maximin will look to lead the Magpies’ attacking charge.

Forward pair Dwight Gayle and Chris Wood are among United’s attacking reinforcements on the bench.
