Isaac Hayden and Matt Ritchie are among those to come into Newcastle’s starting XI against West Brom as the Magpies return to action for the first time since the club’s COVID-19 outbreak.

In total, there are three changes to the side who overcame Crystal Palace a fortnight ago, with Emil Krafth also returning to United’s line-up.

Neither Hayden nor Krafth have started for the Magpies since their defeat to Manchester United in October, while Ritchie has kicked off just one Premier League game all season. With defensive numbers thin on the ground, both Hayden and Krafth are likely to line up at the back.

There, they will be joined by Ciaran Clark and Jamal Lewis. Jonjo Shelvey – skipper for the day – will play next to Sean Longstaff in central midfield, while Miguel Almirón will support Joelinton and leading goalscorer Callum Wilson in attack.

With Mark Gillespie joining Martin Dúbravka on the absentees’ list, young goalkeeper Dan Langley is on the bench for Newcastle. There, there are also spots for Dwight Gayle and Andy Carroll, though United have just one out-and-out defender available, DeAndre Yedlin.

Newcastle United: Karl Darlow, Emil Krafth, Ciaran Clark, Isaac Hayden, Jamal Lewis, Matt Ritchie, Jonjo Shelvey, Sean Longstaff, Miguel Almirón, Joelinton, Callum Wilson.

Substitutes: Dan Langley, DeAndre Yedlin, Matty Longstaff, Jeff Hendrick, Jacob Murphy, Dwight Gayle, Andy Carroll.
