Team news from Prenton Park as Newcastle United get set to take on Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup

United drew 3-3 with Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday but only midfielder Joe Willock survives from that memorable encounter at St. James' Park, with youngster Elliot Anderson handed his first competitive start for the club in the second round tie at Prenton Park (7:45pm kick-off).

Karl Darlow comes in for Nick Pope in goal, with Emil Krafth, captain Jamaal Lascelles, Paul Dummett and Matt Targett making up an entirely new-look back four.

In midfield, Willock keeps his place, with Sean Longstaff and 19-year-old Anderson - whose only previous appearances for the Magpies came in Premier League and FA Cup substitute outings at Arsenal - alongside him in the engine room.

And in attack, Chris Wood will lead the line, with support from Jacob Murphy and Matt Ritchie on the flanks.

The Newcastle bench is a strong one, with Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman, Joelinton and Bruno Guimarães all named, with Federico Fernández and Jamal Lewis also included for the first time this term.

Mark Gillespie, Javier Manquillo and Miguel Almirón complete the list of substitutes available to Howe.
