New recruits Allan Saint-Maximin and Jetro Willems have both been named on the bench as Newcastle United round off their pre-season campaign against AS Saint-Étienne at St. James’ Park.

Head coach Steve Bruce confirmed that the pair – who linked up with the Magpies on Friday – will both figure at some point against the Ligue 1 outfit, though United’s other summer signing, Joelinton, will play from the off.

Including the Brazilian, eight of the 11 who started for Newcastle at Hibernian on Tuesday night retain their place against Les Verts, with Karl Darlow, Paul Dummett and the injured Matt Ritchie dropping out.

Martin Dúbravka, Federico Fernández and Rolando Aarons replace the trio as the Magpies again start with a three-man central defence and two wing backs.

Also among a long list of substitutes are wide-man Christian Atsu, who has yet to figure for United this summer, and youngster Matty Longstaff, who has played some part in each of their friendlies so far.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka, Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schär, Jamaal Lascelles, Federico Fernández, Rolando Aarons, Isaac Hayden, Sean Longstaff, Jonjo Shelvey, Miguel Almirón, Joelinton.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Jamie Sterry, Paul Dummett, Ciaran Clark, Jetro Willems, Ki Sung-yueng, Matty Longstaff, Jacob Murphy, Christian Atsu, Allan Saint-Maximin, Yoshinori Muto.
