Jacob Murphy returns to the Newcastle United starting XI ahead of tonight's Emirates FA Cup fourth round tie against Fulham (kick-off 7pm GMT).

The Magpies face the Cottagers in the capital aiming to secure their passage into the fifth round of the competition for the second time in their last 18 attempts and Eddie Howe has made one change from their Premier League encounter against Manchester City a fortnight ago as Murphy, who suffered a recurring shoulder injury against Arsenal in November, replaces Miguel Almirón who misses out due to illness.

Martin Dúbravka, who has recorded four successive clean sheets against Fulham for the Magpies, starts in-between the sticks while Fabian Schär, who has scored twice in his last three trips to Craven Cottage, and Sven Botman continue at the heart of defence.

Kieran Trippier, captaining the visitors this evening, and Dan Burn - who scored against his former club in a 3-0 Premier League win against the Cottagers last month at St. James' Park, occupy the respective defensive flanks.

Lewis Miley, who scored his first goal for his boyhood club in December's victory against Fulham, starts in the middle of the park alongside Sean Longstaff, who scored in United's 4-1 away win against the Cottagers in October 2022, and Bruno Guimarães.

Anthony Gordon, who has recorded seven goals and eight assists in all competitions so far this term, as well as Murphy will aim to provide attacking support for Alexander Isak, who netted a brace in Newcastle's 3-0 win against local rivals Sunderland in the Emirates FA Cup third round.

Jamaal Lascelles is unavailable for tonight's cup tie following a calf injury but Tino Livramento, who missed Newcastle's 3-2 defeat against Man City due to illness, is an option for Howe to deploy from the substitutes' bench if required.

Emil Krafth, Paul Dummett, Lewis Hall and Matt Ritchie have also among the substitutes while 18-year-old midfielder Travis Hernes, who joined the Magpies from Shrewsbury Town in September 2023, targets a maiden appearance for Newcastle's first-team this evening.

Teenage duo Ben Parkinson and Alex Murphy, who made their Premier League bows for the Magpies against AFC Bournemouth and Chelsea respectively in November, are also on the bench while Loris Karius is the substitute goalkeeper.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka, Kieran Trippier (c), Fabian Schär, Sven Botman, Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimarães, Lewis Miley, Jacob Murphy, Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak.

Substitutes: Loris Karius, Tino Livramento, Emil Krafth, Paul Dummett, Alex Murphy, Lewis Hall, Matt Ritchie, Travis Hernes, Ben Parkinson.
