Lewis Miley will make his first senior Newcastle United start in their Premier League Summer Series clash with Chelsea in Atlanta

United face Mauricio Pochettino's men at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium (kick-off 8:15pm ET/1:15am BST) and Howe has opted to field the 17-year-old from the outset for the first time for the clash with the side he made his competitive Magpies debut against back in May.

Martin Dúbravka continues in goal - although Nick Pope is included among the substitutes after recovering from injury - with Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Sven Botman and Dan Burn making up the back four.

Miley takes his place in the middle of the park alongside Joelinton and Sandro Tonali while further forward, Miguel Almirón is given a start on his return to the ground he excelled at during his time at Atlanta United.

The Paraguayan international will play on the right of United's three-pronged strikeforce, with Anthony Gordon on the left and Alexander Isak in the middle.

Pope and Mark Gillespie are both on the bench as goalkeeping backup but otherwise Howe had named a youthful set of replacements, with Jamie Miley, Ben Parkinson, Remi Savage, Jay Turner-Cooke and Alex Murphy also included, along with Harrison Ashby.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka; Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Sven Botman, Dan Burn; Joelinton, Sandro Tonali, Lewis Miley; Miguel Almirón, Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon.

Substitutes: Nick Pope, Mark Gillespie, Harrison Ashby, Alex Murphy, Remi Savage, Jay Turner-Cooke, Ben Parkinson.
