Miguel Almirón has been handed just his second Premier League start of the season as Newcastle United head coach Steve Bruce shuffles his pack for the Magpies’ trip to Wolves.

Almirón has yet to play 90 minutes for Newcastle in the Premier League this term and had to make do with a cameo appearance against Man United last weekend, but the Paraguayan will have the opportunity to impress from the off at Molineux.

Also coming into the Magpies’ XI are Fabian Schär, Ryan Fraser and Jacob Murphy. For Murphy, it is a first top-flight start since December 2018, when he kicked off United’s 1-1 draw at Everton.

Schär is one of three central defenders to start against Wolves but it remains to be seen whether the Swiss international will join Federico Fernández and Jamaal Lascelles at the back or Jeff Hendrick in the middle of the park instead.

Karl Darlow – who was hurt during the second half against the Red Devils eight days ago – keeps his place in the side, as do left back Jamal Lewis and forward pair Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson.

Andy Carroll, Joelinton and Sean Longstaff are among those to figure on the visitors’ bench.

Newcastle United: Karl Darlow, Fabian Schär, Jamaal Lascelles, Federico Fernández, Jacob Murphy, Jamal Lewis, Jeff Hendrick, Miguel Almirón, Ryan Fraser, Allan Saint-Maximin, Callum Wilson.

Substitutes: Mark Gillespie, Emil Krafth, Javier Manquillo, Isaac Hayden, Sean Longstaff, Joelinton, Andy Carroll.
