Newcastle United head coach Steve Bruce has made four changes to his starting XI for the Magpies’ Boxing Day fixture against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

United – who beat Crystal Palace 1-0 last time out – welcome back Jetro Willems from injury, with Sean and Matty Longstaff coming into the side to form a central midfield partnership and Dwight Gayle making his first Premier League start of the season.

Willems slots back into the left back role in place of Paul Dummett, while the rest of Newcastle’s backline – Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schär, Federico Fernández and Florian Lejeune – remain unchanged in front of goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka.

In midfield, Sean Longstaff starts alongside his younger brother Matty, who netted a memorable winner on his league debut when the two sides met at St. James’ Park in October.

And in attack, Miguel Almirón and Joelinton will provide support for Gayle, who netted in this fixture in 2016/17.

United’s bench is a strong-looking one, with Jonjo Shelvey, Andy Carroll and Isaac Hayden all featuring.

DeAndre Yedlin, Emil Krafth, Christian Atsu and Karl Darlow complete the list of substitutes available to Bruce, whose side face Everton at home on Saturday in what will be their second game in under 48 hours.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka; Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schär, Federico Fernández, Florian Lejeune, Jetro Willems; Sean Longstaff, Matty Longstaff; Miguel Almirón, Dwight Gayle, Joelinton.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, DeAndre Yedlin, Emil Krafth, Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey, Christian Atsu, Andy Carroll.
