The 30-year-old hasn’t featured for United since the 0-0 draw with Fulham just before Christmas but, after a spell on international duty and a stint on the sidelines through injury, he will take his place in midfield for the clash with the Toffees at St. James’ Park.
Magpies boss Rafa Benítez has made two changes to his team for this weekend’s Premier League game, with Ki and DeAndre Yedlin coming into the line-up in place of the injured Sean Longstaff and Javier Manquillo.
That means Martin Dúbravka continues in goal, with Yedlin and Matt Ritchie on the flanks in front of him and Fabian Schär, Jamaal Lascelles and Florian Lejeune in central defence.
Ki partners Isaac Hayden in the middle of the park, with Ayoze Pérez, Salomón Rondón and Miguel Almirón in attack.
Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey is back from injury and takes his place on the bench, alongside Mo Diamé.
Karl Darlow, Manquillo and Paul Dummett are also among the substitutes, with Kenedy and Joselu providing further options for Benítez to call upon against Marco Silva’s men.
