Team news from Wembley ahead of Sunday's Carabao Cup final

The Magpies bid to end their 54-year wait for a trophy under the arch this weekend and, with Nick Pope suspended and Martin Dúbravka cup-tied, head coach Eddie Howe has opted to field Karius over Mark Gillespie between the sticks.

And in attack, England international Callum Wilson comes into the team in place of Alexander Isak, who reverts to the bench for what will be Newcastle's first cup final in 24 years.

Kieran Trippier wears the captain's armband and forms part of a settled back four alongside Fabian Schär, Sven Botman and Dan Burn.

In midfield, Sean Longstaff and Joelinton will line up either side of Bruno Guimarães, who is back in the Magpies side after serving a three-match suspension for his red card against Southampton in the second leg of the semi-final.

And Miguel Almirón and Allan Saint-Maximin will start out wide in support of forward Wilson as Howe's men look to clinch the silverware.

Gillespie provides goalkeeping backup, with Jamaal Lascelles, Matt Ritchie and the fit-again Matt Targett the defensive reinforcements.

Elliot Anderson is named too, as is Jacob Murphy, with Joe Willock included after recovering from a knock and Isak the additional firepower for Howe to bring on should his charges need a boost up front.

Newcastle United: Loris Karius; Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Sven Botman, Dan Burn; Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimarães, Joelinton; Miguel Almirón, Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin.

Substitutes: Mark Gillespie, Javier Manquillo, Jamaal Lascelles, Matt Targett, Matt Ritchie, Elliot Anderson, Joe Willock, Jacob Murphy, Alexander Isak.
