Team news from St. James' Park as Newcastle United take on Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup

United welcome the Eagles to St. James' Park hoping to book their place in the last 16, and head coach Howe has opted to ring the changes, with only Nick Pope, Dan Burn and Sean Longstaff surviving as starters from Sunday's 4-1 win at Southampton.

Javier Manquillo, Jamaal Lascelles, Burn and Matt Targett form a back four in front of goalkeeper Pope, while Longstaff again lines up in the middle alongside Joelinton and Jonjo Shelvey, who starts for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in pre-season.

Further forward, Allan Saint-Maximin and Elliot Anderson come into the side to provide support for frontman Chris Wood in attack.

It's a strong-looking bench for the Magpies, with in-form trio Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimarães and Miguel Almirón all named along with Joe Willock, Fabian Schär.

Loris Karius, Sven Botman, Jamal Lewis and Jacob Murphy complete the list of substitutes available to Howe.
