Bruno Guimarães has been handed a first start at St. James’ Park as Newcastle return to Premier League action against Wolves.

Bruno replaces Joe Willock in the Magpies’ midfield as Eddie Howe makes two changes to his side’s starting XI, with Emil Krafth replacing Javier Manquillo at right back.

For Bruno, it’s a fourth start in United colours all told, and a chance to line up alongside fellow Brazilian Joelinton in the engine room, who keeps his place. Jonjo Shelvey completes a midfield triumvirate.

Krafth joins Dan Burn, Fabian Schär and Matt Targett in the backline, with Martin Dúbravka in goal. Further forward, Allan Saint-Maximin, Ryan Fraser and Chris Wood all retain their starting spots following last week’s heavy defeat at Spurs.

Miguel Almirón and Dwight Gayle are among Newcastle’s attacking reinforcements as Howe’s charges look to halt a three-game losing run.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka, Emil Krafth, Fabian Schär, Dan Burn, Matt Targett, Jonjo Shelvey, Bruno Guimarães, Joelinton, Ryan Fraser, Allan Saint-Maximin, Chris Wood.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Javier Manquillo, Jamaal Lascelles, Paul Dummett, Jacob Murphy, Matt Ritchie, Sean Longstaff, Miguel Almirón, Dwight Gayle.
