Kieran Trippier has been handed his Newcastle United debut ahead of the Magpies' Emirates FA Cup third round tie against Cambridge United (kick-off 3pm GMT).

The 31-year-old right-back, who became the first signing under the Magpies' new owners after joining from La Liga winners Atlético Madrid on Friday, will line up at St. James' Park for the first time this afternoon.

The England international is one of three changes made from the side which claimed a 1-1 draw against Manchester United last month as Matt Ritchie, who captains the hosts today, and Jacob Murphy have been named in the starting XI, replacing Javier Manquillo and the injured Callum Wilson.

Martin Dúbravka continues in between the sticks behind a four-man defence consisting of Trippier, Emil Krafth, Schär and Ritchie.

Jonjo Shelvey and Sean Longstaff are situated in the middle of the park along with Joelinton, who makes his 100th competitive appearance for Newcastle in the process.

Ryan Fraser and Murphy will aim to provide attacking support for Allan Saint-Maximin, who has recovered from a recent injury sustained against the Red Devils.

Paul Dummett has been named on the substitutes' bench in a competitive fixture for the first time since May while Joe Willock, Jeff Hendrick, Javier Manquillo and Miguel Almirón are available for Eddie Howe to deploy.

Elliot Anderson, who made his professional debut in last year's FA Cup defeat at Arsenal, could make his home debut for his boyhood club while Joe White, who arrived at Newcastle's youth set-up at the age of 14, remains in search of a professional bow.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka, Kieran Trippier, Emil Krafth, Fabian Schär, Matt Ritchie (c), Jonjo Shelvey, Sean Longstaff, Joelinton, Ryan Fraser, Jacob Murphy, Allan Saint-Maximin.

Substitutes: Mark Gillespie, Paul Dummett, Javier Manquillo, Jeff Hendrick, Joe Willock, Joe White, Elliot Anderson, Miguel Almirón.
