Sterry, Fabian Schär, Federico Fernández and Ciaran Clark form a back four in front of Darlow, with Christian Atsu, Ki Sung-yueng, Longstaff and Kenedy in midfield.
And Japanese forward Yoshinori Muto will make his first start for the club, providing support for frontman Joselu, who came off the bench to net at the weekend.
Rob Elliot, DeAndre Yedlin, Paul Dummett, Mo Diamé are all named among the substitutes, along with Jacob Murphy, Ayoze Pérez and Salomón Rondón.
