Andy Carroll could make his second Newcastle United debut on Saturday after being named among the Magpies’ substitutes for their Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

United welcome the Seagulls to St. James’ Park (5:30pm kick-off) as they look for a first home win of the campaign, and Steve Bruce – who has made one change to his starting line-up after last weekend’s defeat at Liverpool – has named fit-again frontman Carroll and fellow summer signing Allan Saint-Maximin on the bench.

The one change comes in defence, as Javier Manquillo comes in for Emil Krafth, while Martin Dúbravka continues in goal behind a back five of Manquillo, Fabian Schär, Jamaal Lascelles, Paul Dummett and Jetro Willems.

Jonjo Shelvey partners Isaac Hayden in midfield once more, while Christian Atsu and Miguel Almirón will look to provide service for forward Joelinton.

Krafth and Federico Fernández are the defensive reinforcements on the bench, along with goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

Ki Sung-yueng also returns to the squad, with Saint-Maximin, Yoshinori Muto and Carroll completing the list of players Bruce may opt to turn if required to change the game.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka; Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schär, Jamaal Lascelles, Paul Dummett, Jetro Willems; Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey; Christian Atsu, Joelinton, Miguel Almirón.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Emil Krafth, Federico Fernández, Ki Sung-yueng, Allan Saint-Maximin, Yoshinori Muto, Andy Carroll.
