Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has made two changes to his starting line-up for Sunday’s visit of Leicester City, with Miguel Almirón and Sean Longstaff both set to start for the Magpies.

United kick off 2021 against Brendan Rodgers’ men and, fresh from the 0-0 draw with Premier League champions Liverpool on Wednesday, Bruce has opted to bring forward Almirón and midfielder Longstaff back into the fray in place of Isaac Hayden and Jacob Murphy.

That means that Karl Darlow keeps his place in goal, as the fit-again Martin Dúbravka is again named among the substitutes, with DeAndre Yedlin, Federico Fernández, Fabian Schär, Ciaran Clark and Matt Ritchie resuming their defensive partnerships.

Longstaff comes in to partner his younger brother Matty in the centre of the park, with Almirón and Joelinton either side of the siblings.

And leading goalscorer Callum Wilson will lead the line once more as Newcastle seek to start the year in the best possible fashion.

Murphy is named on the bench along with Jonjo Shelvey and Jeff Hendrick, but fellow midfielder Hayden misses out through suspension.

Emil Krafth, Javier Manquillo and Paul Dummett provide defensive reinforcements, while Andy Carroll and Dwight Gayle are the more attacking options among the substitutes.
