Team news from St. James' Park ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund

The duo were both introduced as substitutes during the Magpies' 4-0 Premier League win over Crystal Palace on Saturday but have been restored to the line-up by head coach Eddie Howe for the midweek showdown with the German giants, as United seek a repeat of their emphatic win over Paris Saint-Germain on matchday two.

There is also a place on the bench for the returning Joe Willock, who is included in the squad for the first time since April after recovering from injury.

Kieran Trippier, Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schär and Dan Burn make up the back four in front of goalkeeper Nick Pope.

In-form midfielders Sean Longstaff and Bruno Guimarães are in midfield along with Joelinton, while Almirón and Anthony Gordon are named on the flanks.

And Swedish frontman Isak starts against his former club - he made 13 appearances and scored once for Dortmund between 2017 and 2019 - with Callum Wilson and Jacob Murphy the two players reverting to the bench.

Two goalkeepers, Martin Dúbravka and Loris Karius, are among the substitutes, with Tino Livramento, Paul Dummett, Matt Targett and Lewis Hall.

Sandro Tonali, Murphy, Wilson and Willock complete the list of players who could be called upon by Howe.
