Taylor, from Wythenshawe, Manchester, will officiate the Premier League clash at Turf Moor, which will be just the second time he has overseen a Magpies fixture this season.
The first came in October, when Newcastle faced Manchester United at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho’s side staged a late comeback to win 3-2 on that occasion, with Luke Shaw, Paul Pogba, Mo Diamé and Matt Ritchie being shown yellow cards.
The 40-year-old took charge of United’s home games against Brighton and Arsenal last term, dishing out a total of five yellow cards in those games at St. James’ Park.
So far this term, Taylor has refereed fixtures in the Premier League and the Champions League. He has also overseen a pair of international fixtures in the UEFA Nations League.
In total, he has brandished 61 yellow cards in his 17 outings in 2018/19 so far – but is yet to produce a red.
Taylor will be assisted by Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn on Monday, while Simon Hooper will be the fourth official.
