Newcastle United go into Sunday’s match against Barnsley with a chance of lifting the Sky Bet Championship trophy in front of a packed St. James’ Park.

Should the Magpies better Brighton’s result away at Aston Villa, Rafa Benítez’s side will leapfrog the Seagulls to finish the 2016/17 season as league winners.

Whatever happens, supporters are being asked to remain in their seats after the full-time whistle to celebrate a successful season with Rafa Benítez and the players.

With the Magpies guaranteed an automatic promotion spot already, there will be a presentation by the EFL on the pitch of either a first or second-placed trophy before a lap of honour.

Supporters are urged not to enter the field at any point on matchday, including immediately after the full-time whistle and during post-match celebrations.

Tickets are completely sold out for the final match of the campaign but fans can listen live by signing in for free at nufc.co.uk or follow live updates on Twitter at www.twitter.com/nufc.

Kick-off at St. James’ Park is at 12pm (BST).
