The 19-year-old striker netted 20 goals this term, scoring 12 times in Premier League 2, to guide Newcastle towards a fourth-place finish in division two, with the promotion-chasing Magpies set to face Southampton in the play-off final along with competing in the Premier League Cup final against Everton.
The Danish forward has enjoyed a memorable season with United this term, scoring four times in Newcastle's Checkatrade Trophy ties this term, scoring in each fixture before their respectable run was ended at the last 16 stage by finalists Sunderland.
Sørensen's eye-catching form in front of goal also warranted an international call-up, marking his debut for Denmark Under-21s by scoring in a 1-0 win over Mexico before scoring against the Central American outfit the following week.
Along with signing a three-and-a-half year deal and earning a move to League One Blackpool in January, Sørensen won the Wor Jackie Award, presented to the club's young player of the year.
