Newcastle United youngster Elias Sørensen scored the winner on his debut for Denmark Under-21s as they saw off Mexico on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old has been in sensational form for the Magpies’ second string this term, netting 19 times in black and white to earn his first call-up from his country.

Sørensen jetted out to Mexico City to link up with his teammates this week, and made an immediate impact in the friendly against the hosts.

The forward – who was the youngest member of his nation’s under-21 squad – entered the fray as a half time substitute, and took just three minutes to make his mark.

Former HB Køge frontman Sørensen latched onto a lofted through ball before calmly slotting home what proved to be the decisive goal in the 1-0 victory for the Danes.

The United man will remain in Mexico until Saturday, when Denmark – who will compete in the European Under-21 Championships this summer – take on the Central American side once again to round off their training camp.
